Digital signage is located across campus and consists of wall-mounted digital monitors, usually TVs, that showcase a variety of content relevant to our campus audience. Digital signage software is used by departments to display text, photos and video, and to schedule the content to play at any time.
All events promoted on a digital sign must first be added to the UND Calendar before they are approved. Submit your events to the calendar. Submissions will be reviewed by the University of North Dakota Office of Marketing & Communications according to these guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does UND use digital signage?
UND digital signs are located in areas of campus with a high amount of foot traffic. The signs provide helpful information such as upcoming events, weather, building maps, hours and directories, and other UND content. Some of the signs are touch screens and provide an interactive experience for the user. Most signs play a looping slideshow, where the content changes approximately every 10 seconds.
Who manages UND digital signage?
Several people manage the digital signage on campus. The management is broken down by departments and/or buildings.

What content can be displayed on UND digital signage?
UND staff, faculty and student organizations may create digital sign advertisements if the event or information is UND related and benefits the majority of students on campus.
Submissions will be reviewed by the University of North Dakota Office of Marketing & Communications according to these guidelines.
Please note that only events with broad relevance to members of the university community will be allowed. Events hosted exclusively by local or regional non-university businesses or organizations are referred to the Grand Forks City calendar or the Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitors Bureau calendar.
What are the design specifications?
If you use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Microsoft Publisher, you can download a Pre-Sized Template to get started.
We recommend including the following: who, what, when, where, a photo, and department logo.
Remember that each slide only shows for 6-10 seconds so don't include too much information. Slides must have 15 words or less, or they become unreadable and will not be accepted.
You can always direct the viewer to a webpage that has additional information.
Please make sure you follow UND Brand Guidelines when creating your design.
The majority of UND signs use a landscape orientation (1920 x 1080 pixels), but there is one sign that is portrait orientation (1080 x 1920 pixels). The portrait sign is located in Wilkerson commons.
If you would like your content to be displayed on all available signs, please submit both landscape and portrait design files. JPG is preferred but PDF is also accepted. Your file size must be less than 5MB.
How do I submit a sign for display?
Please fill out a Digital Sign Request Form to submit your advertisement to be displayed on UND digital signs. Once submitted, allow 1-2 business days for your content to be added. It is recommended that you start the design process early in case there are changes that need to be made. Your content will be shown on 50+ signs in the following locations:

How can I set up digital signage in my department?
How does the social media feed work?
Some signs across campus display UND social media. Use #UNDproud on Twitter or Instagram and your content may be shown.
Please note event posters/advertisements are not approved for display on social media feeds. Use a photo preparing for the event or a past event to promote upcoming events with #UNDproud, along with a short text-based description.
If you have questions, please email UND.DigitalSignage@UND.edu.
