Title IX - Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment
UND Title IX Mission:
The Title IX office at UND is committed to reducing or eliminating barriers to educational and employment opportunity at UND caused by sex discrimination.
UND supports the mission of Title IX, VAWA, and other laws aimed at reducing sexual discrimination and violence through the work of its Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Coordinators, the Committee on Sexual Violence Prevention and Response and subcommittees, campus support offices, and campus community members.
Have you experienced an unwanted sexual encounter, sexual violence, or sexual harassment as a UND student, staff, faculty member, or visitor? We are here to help.
Please contact the Title IX Coordinator or any Deputy Coordinator. We will take prompt action to eliminate the harassment, prevent its recurrence and address its effects.
Prohibited Harassment
UND prohibits discrimination and harassment of students, faculty staff and visitors based upon sex. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination and includes sexual violence, such as rape, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, sexual abuse, sexual assault, and sexual coercion. Prohibited harassment includes:
- Acts of verbal, nonverbal or physical aggression, intimidation or hostility based on sex, even if those acts do not involve conduct of a sexual nature.
- Sex-based harassment by those of the same sex.
- Discriminatory sex stereotyping and harassment of GLBTQ individuals.
- Sexual violence.
Reporting is Your Responsibility
If you are a UND employee who has been designated a Responsible Employee for Title IX and you know or reasonably should know about a Title IX violation, you must report it to the Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
Retaliation is Prohibited
Retaliation against any person who initiates any inquiry or complaint or participates in the investigation of a complaint is prohibited. Such conduct will be further cause for disciplinary action.
